Where did 2016 go? It was just New Year’s Eve and now it is upon us again. Everyone starts a new year fresh and full of hope. Determination to accomplish all the goals they have put to the side up until now.
Many will not accomplish their goals, losing their drive within a week or two. Some will start toward their resolution and never look back. I hope to be one that accomplishes everything that I want too in 2017 but if my track record is any indication on how this year will go, im screwed.
I am a goal setter all year-long and I always accomplish those goals, I make lists and I check them off. I feel very accomplished when I can put that big check mark on my to-do list. Why then can I not accomplish my New Year’s resolutions? What’s the difference? A New Year’s resolution can be something as simple as waving to your neighbor on a regular basis, sending out birthday cards to your family or to stop biting your nails, so easy right?
The way to succeed at these New Year’s resolutions is simple. Don’t set the bar too high. If you want to lose weight, don’t set your goal at 100 pounds. Set your goal at 10 and once you have accomplished that, up your goal. Breaking your resolutions down to smaller more attainable goals is a must. If your resolution is too extreme you will probably fail.
Another way to help you succeed these goals is to write it down. Have your list of resolutions somewhere that you can see it throughout your day. Whether it’s a post it on your fridge or a simple timer on your phone that goes off once a day with your list on it.
Here is a list of my 2017 resolutions and fingers crossed I can stick to my own rules and accomplish all I want too!
- Simplify Life–
- Meal Planning
- Bill Scheduling
- Chore Assignments
- Yard Sale
- Date Day/Night
- Organize Papers
I think you get the idea, all of these resolutions are not things that will happen over night. It’s hard to find the time and the energy on top of everything else that goes on in life, but with the proper mindset and drive to accomplish them, you can do it! Break it down and only take on what you can handle, you will get more done than you think.
I wish all of you a prosperous 2017 and look forward to growing right along with you.
